• A middle-aged crossing guard stands in the middle of a crosswalk with arms outstretched and STOP sign upheld. There are neither cars not pedestrians anywhere in sight. The tagline reads, "Safety. We pay for it.™" with a St. John Fisher College logo.

    Crossing Guard

I suppose in a struggling economy it was morally justifiable to hire crossing guards to stand at little-used crosswalks all day long. Can't be much fun, though.

This cartoon's header references some early or mid- 2000's Fisher ads that had pictures of photogenic students with taglines like "Integrity. We teach it."

Most Fisher residence students will probably recognize this crosswalk, which I modeled directly on the real thing. The building in the background is Keough Hall, while the view is probably out of a window in Murray Hall.

This work originally appeared in the Cardinal Courier, the award-winning student-run newspaper at St. John Fisher College, between 2007 and 2011.
