    • Skip the Squirrel struggles to hold closed a bulging, overfilled suitcase.
    • The suitcase snaps open with a huge "POP!". Skip, startled, is thrown backwards.
    • Cal Cardinal looks up at the object that's emerged from the suitcase.

Cal: "I don't think it's gonna fit, Skip."

Skip, sitting and looking up sadly: "I know, Cal..."
    • Skip: "...I just want to bring it all with us."

We've zoomed out. The huge object sticking up out of the suitcase is the bell tower of Kearney Hall. Rays of light shine out of the case to either side of the tower, reading "COURAGE, KNOWLEDGE, DISCIPLINE, FRIENDSHIP, CONFIDENCE, MEMORIES".

Cal: "We will, buddy. We will."

This strip was Skip and Cal's final one in the Cardinal Courier. It accurately represents my own feelings at graduation.

But is it their final strip ever? We shall see...

This work originally appeared in the Cardinal Courier, the award-winning student-run newspaper at St. John Fisher College, between 2007 and 2011.
