    • It's sunny. Cal perches on a branch reading the Cardinal Courier newspaper. Skip is on a nearby branch reading something on a smartphone.
    • It's dark and raining. Cal looks surprised. His paper gets soggy and the ink starts to run. Skip has an umbrella and continues reading.
    • The sun blisters down. Cal flinches. His ruined paper dries up all crinkled in his hands/wings. Skip has sunglasses and a handheld electric fan. He reads his phone uninterrupted.
    • It's snowing. Cal and Skip are both covered in mounds of snow. Cal says, "What just--?" Skip interrupts, "Rochester." Skip replies, "Oh, right."

It's really not much of an exaggeration.

This work originally appeared in the Cardinal Courier, the award-winning student-run newspaper at St. John Fisher College, between 2007 and 2011.
