    • Cal is reading a newspaper (the Cardinal Courier, actually). Skip is holding a notebook. He says, "College is so expensive! I can't even afford to get my textbooks this semester."
    • The interior of what seems to be Skip's house. There's a large HDTV, a Wii, and a PlayStation 3, all three giving off an aura of money: "$$$".
    • The front stoop of Skip's tree-house. There's a large box with an Amazon.com logo and "Express" addressed to "Skip Squirrel, 3690 East Ave, Rochester, NY 14618". Skip's mailbox is overflowing with letters, magazines, and packages. All of these give off an aura of money: "$$$".
    • The last two frames have been the contents of Cal's thought bubble. Cal looks annoyed as he replies to Skip's last statement with, "I can't imagine why." Skip, oblivious to Cal's sarcasm, says, "Me either!" He is in the process of buying an overpriced coffee with a credit card, both of which give off the money aura: "$$$".

You may not have a lot, but you can still make it go further than you are.

On the topic of money management, I recommend blog The Simple Dollar and money-tracking tool Mint to help ensure you don't fall into the common trap that Skip has. They work for me, anyway.

This work originally appeared in the Cardinal Courier, the award-winning student-run newspaper at St. John Fisher College, between 2007 and 2011.
