This time Dr. Bain, then- and current president of our beloved St. John Fisher College, makes a guest appearance. As you might assume based on his species (how stereotypifying of you), Cal is a bit of a “teacher’s pet” when it comes to the Fisher administration. Cal always tries to follow the rules, while Skip is generally indifferent to them, and their behavior often reflects those attitudes.
Unfortunately, the first strip is the only one I’ve ever drawn in color, as the page Skip & Cal appeared on in the Courier was rarely, if ever, printed in color. However, in later strips I do at least start to use shades of gray to add some life to the frames. So, if nothing else, at least you have that to look forward to.
Artist’s Apology for completely failing to accurately represent the architecture of Growney Stadium. My room in Haffey (my freshman dorm) did face that direction, but I believe there were too many trees in the way to actually see the stadium. (Go outside? Nah, when would I ever want to leave Haffey 2? Well, maybe on No-Pants Thursdays.)
